“Medium and large caliber” guns are now subject to regulations concerning their service life. Even though rifling wear or chromium peeling at the bore are generally the most common modes of deterioration for gun barrels, there may be times when the crack propagation initiated during the first shots can lead to a major incident that may result in significant injury to users.
OUR SOLUTION:
ACCELERATE
CRACK PROPAGATION
ON CRITICAL PARTS
The pressure fatigue machine developed by THIOT INGENIERIE is used to accelerate the propagation of any cracks on all the parts making up the “breech block ring, breech block, seals and barrel” zone.
The number of cycles can range from a few hundred to several thousand, without major interventions on the system in terms of maintenance and replacement of consumable parts during the test.
